Chemo Session #7

Tuesday's hospital visit was really great. Not only did I have a special someone buy me the most delicious tacos ever, but I also received my treatment in a private room with an actual hospital bed. I'm calling this "the princess room with a princess bed". Usually I am in the "cove" with a bunch of other people, but today was a nice little switch up.
Morning started at 8AM again, with Tom as my chariot/hospital companion for the day. Blood draw at 8:30, then a stop at my favorite spot, the cafeteria. One of the things that I love most about Tom is that he knows pretty much everything about everything, so today, he explained to me how bicycle racing works - quite fascinating stuff. Also very helpful in getting my mind off the big C.
The meeting with my doctor at 10AM was fast and painless, and like last week, she couldn't feel the tumor. Only downside is that this week I have to take 2 Neupogen shots because my white blood cell count didn't come up from last week. Taken on Wednesday and Thursday, these were also fast and painless (kind of).
Chemo started at 11 and it was one of the best days yet. Put me in a private room with a cozy bed and warm blankets any day of the week and I'll be a happy camper. The room also allowed for us to play Piggy Wiggy 3 on the laptop without worrying about bothering the other patients so I'm probably, most likely, going to ask for this room every session from now on...
Our day ended around 4PM, and feeling quite tired and famished, we took a little detour over the GG Bridge to enjoy the view at Bar Bocce. If you haven't ever been, please go immediately. Tom beat me every time at bocce ball (don't you know you're supposed to let the sick person win at least once???) and we enjoyed some blistered Shoshito peppers that some tourists oh so kindly "helped" us eat, which was weird.
Feeling quite groggy and tired, we made our way home. 'Twas a good day.

Please only wake me if you have tacos. Or another warm blanket.
